Role of water on health

Preface

The chemical name of water is H2O. Water is present in three states in nature, which is ice in the solid state, water in the liquid state and vapors in the gaseous state. Water is a liquid which makes life possible on earth. All the things on earth who have life need water for their survival. Life is not possible without water.

Function of water in life.

Water is truly essential for human life and plays a truly important job in body functioning.
Here are some given functions carried out by water in our body.

1. Water helps in the circulation of oxygen in the body through blood flow.

2. Water gives lubrication to the join by adding the volume of synovial fluid around the joint.

3. Water removes the waste from the body, making it toxic free, in the form of sweat, urine and feces. It decreases the burden on the kidneys and liver.

4. It gives hydration to the body, making the skin soft.

5. Water is useful to lower blood pressure because lack of water makes the blood thicker, leading to high blood pressure.

6. Water balances the electrolytes in the body which helps carry electrical signals between the cells.

7. Water helps in weight loss. Drinking water before taking a meal helps to prevent more eating because it gives the sense of stomach's fullness.

8. The minerals and nutrients in the body dissolve in water, and then they reach different parts of the body.

9. Water is required in the digestion process. Saliva and mucus are formed by water which helps in digestion. Lack of water causes constipation and acidity in the stomach.

10. Water regulates body temperature. When the temperature is high outside the body in the atmosphere, sweating occurs, leading to a cooling effect.

11. Drinking water helps in brain structure and function. It reduces tooth damage and keeps the mouth clean. It also helps in hormone production.

As water is a vital thing for life, a bit of contamination and pollution can disturb the life system and cause trouble.

The following are some problems which are created if  people consume polluted or contaminated water.

1. However, it causes diarrhea, which is a condition causing frequent and watery bowels, if water is untreated before drinking.

2. However, it causes deposition of arsenic in the body, ultimately causing cancer, if water is polluted with arsenic.

3. Water containing sanitary and domestic sewage, if not treated well before drinking, causes life-threatening conditions like typhoid and cholera.

4. Polluted water causes viral diseases like Hepatitis, which is a viral infection of the liver, and poliomyelitis.

5. Drinking polluted water which icontaminated with poisonous substances like mercury, lead and pesticides by pregnant women can cause neurological diseases in their offspring.

6. The kidney helps to filter the blood and remove the toxins. However, they can also cause renal failure or renal cancer if pollutants like benzene and trichlorethylene are present in water.

7. Long-term consumption of polluted water can activate problems like stress and anxiety.

8. Drinking polluted water can cause cardiovascular problems.
